giving vaccinations

Postby Denise » October 18th, 2009, 7:28 pm

My horse is easy to catch, rides beautifully, great with farrier, but, when comes to giving vaccinations she completely goes crazy at the sight of the needle or if you even attempt to get one close to her. She was so bad that she still has not gotten shots for this year. several people have tried noone been successfull. She is violently dangerous. This is the ONLy time slightly misbehaves. HELP

Old unanswered post, but... Blindfold her. Also try grabbing a handful of skin at the shoulder, give it a good twist, hold it for about 30 seconds and give the shot. That's called a shoulder twitch. ~FH
